Visual Editor not working

  • I went to add a post to my site and the visual editor shows a blank page, also editing features are missing. The site seems fine. I have not installed any new plugins, just updated. Theme is Mantra – I have posted on the theme forum also.

    Any suggestions on how to fix this would be most appreciated. The site has been running without any issues for 9 months.

  • Have you tried deactivating your plugins and switching to a default theme to see if any are causing that?

    Not yet, it is a live business site – so I am waiting until later tonight before I do any drastic changes.

    Thank you WPyogi – I did as you suggested and it appears to be a conflict with this plugin: NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati

    There have been quite a few problems with that plugin – you may want to post in their forum for additional help with it:

    I’ve looked through several posts regarding this problem going back several versions. I have already tried disabling all of my plugins and going back to the default theme. Nothing brought back the editor so I put everything back. I reinstalled WordPress from the dashboard. Short of making some suggested changes to the config file that I don’t understand and therefore hesitate to make, I don’t know what else to try. The trouble for me may have begun with the original Weaver 2 theme, but I have removed that completely. There may be visual oddities of which I’m not aware because I can’t actually see my site very well, but as far as I know the front end is fine.

    I wonder if there’s a way to check for the file integrity instead of “re-installing WordPress” just to see if that will do any good. For some sites, it’s fine, but a professional production site can’t really re-install because it “may” help.
