visual editor not working

    Since yesterday, I have been unable to use the visual editor when creating posts. I can use the text editor, but not the visual editor, which shows an entirely blank post, even when there is plenty of text and other elements that should display.

    I reinstalled the latest version of WordPress, checked and unchecked “disable visual editor” and neither of those things worked.

    Any idea what I need to do to re-enable the visual editor?

  • Try using the Web inspector in your browser (e.g. Firefox) to see if there are any errors on the page load.

    Often for me this has been a permission problem on some of the files in the wp-admin folder which my host has sorted for me.

    Bluehost said there was nothing out of sorts on their end. I checked around, and it appears that several other people have had the same problem once upgrading to the latest version of WP, but most of them solved it in a variety of ways (including reinstalling WP manually, deactivating various plugins), none of which are working for me.

    Does anyone else have any ideas?

    I was just searching for a solution to this issue, as I was having the same problem. I had just installed Advanced SystemCare to help keep my computer as clean as possible. One of the extensions it added to Chrome was “Surfing Protection”. Once I disabled this, the visual editor was back to working just fine. I happened across this solution, as my Google Ads weren’t displaying. I then realized that I had an ad blocker extension loaded as well. So, check your browser extensions and ad-ons…therein might lie the culprit. Hope it helps!
