Voids in website display?

  • About ayear ago I posted about the way the WordPress built sites that allowed limited content on sidebars.

    The wasted space was my problem. It didn’t seem I could fill a page with as much content extending down the page as the full content of blog articles. The sidebars only displayed limited information and then when users scrolled through the site they were presented with large void spaces below the sidebars.

    Is there a correction for this now, or still status quo?

    I just gave up on the wordpress and moved on. The wordpress is an excellent tool, but that one issue was just not workable for the type site display I needed then or now.

    If this is a theme issue, I’d sure appreciate information on themes that have corrected for the wasted space or provided tools to allow extensive ability to add blocks in sidebars.

    You can place as much info as you want in the sidebars.

    What do you expect to see there if you haven’t placed anything there?

    Why not reduce the number of posts you show. Limit to 2 or 3 and your sidebar content should be long enough.

    BTW, most designers will tell you empty space is not a problem. Just the opposite is true. MT space gives the eye chance to relax and focus on the primary message or content. Most side bars (probably mine included) are too full of junk.
