Vote button inactive

    I have the dev version of the plugin from github running on WordPress 4.5.1. The poll is being displayed on a sidebar on a SimpleMags child theme, and using the WP-Polls Vote! widget.

    The first poll worked fine last month. This second poll displays the Vote button, but nothing happens when the user clicks on the button. Nothing happens when the user clicks on the ‘View Results’ link. No error messages either.

    The options are set to allow guests and registered users to vote. Logging is set to ‘no logs’ and Cookie and Log expiry time is set to zero. All templates are reset to defaults.

    Any clue as to what’s disabling the submit button?

    Tracked it down to a missing pair of double quote marks on the Simplemag theme:

    line 461 of simplemag/js/jquery.custom.js

    [href^=#comments] should be [href^=“#comments”]

    Tsk.

    I’m so disheartened because my vote button also stopped working. There is NO OTHER POLLING thing that does what I want to do (which is to simply track registered users.) My header and footer seem to have all the right things. I’ve tried changing to many different themes but the problem persists regardless of the theme. I don’t know if I have javascript problems, but I don’t know why they would suddenly show up unless a wordpress update messed with them.

    I’ve tried uininstalling and reinstalling as well. I feel like I’m out of ideas, which is why I came here. I spent a lot of time reviewing the other threads, but can’t figure my own problem out.
