VPN’s and spam detection
-
I’ve noticed that many submissions are getting labelled as spam with the message:
*** Forbidden. Your IP belongs to a high spam risk network. Please, try again without VPN. ***I’ve read various FAQ resources on the CT site (which were rather difficult to find i might add) and the explanation seems valid. But this doesn’t help authentic users that just use a VPN for privacy and security.
While this is no doubt difficult to manage, it would be helpful for CleanTalk to provide helpful tips to pass along to users filling out forms.
If I understand this correctly, I’m inclined to add a message, near the ‘Submit’ button, alerting users that if they are using a VPN, they may encounter problems. And then also provide remedies for them.
I’m inclined to add a message along the lines of:
“If you use a VPN, it’s possible that your submission will be labelled as spam. If this happens there are 2 things to try:
1) Change the location of your VPN to acquire a different IP address, and trying submitting the form again
2) Disable your VPN when submitting this form and then re-enable after it is completed.”Would that be an appropriate message to provide users?
If not, can someone provide better suggestions please. We are having too many submissions that get blocked and I’m quite certain that the vast majority are valid and authentic submissions
Thanks
