W3 Cache and Cloudflare Authentication

    Hi Guys,

    first of all thanks very much for the great and flexible plugin.

    One Question regarding authentication of the cloudflare extension.
    Currently only “API Key” is supported, right?
    If an account is managing several CF accounts with 100+ Domains this does not make much sense. Is it possible to use token based authentication already?
    If not, fill a GitHub ticket?

    Thank you for your inquiry and I am happy to assist you with this.
    Yes, the Cloudflare authentication is handled by the API key. As you can see in our documentation, once you authenticate with the API you can select a pull zone (specific website). Currently, this is the safest way to integrate Cloudflare with W3TC.

    @vmarko thanks for the fast reply.
    As mentioned above, if the CF Global API key is used to manage 100+ domains, this is not really the optimal way.
    CF has the possibility to map detailed tokens per domain, e.g. to enable cache clear, change settings and so on.
    Are there any plans to change to tokens instead?

    Thank you for the information.
    Not at the moment, no. For now, only using an API key. This is how the Cloudflare extension works.
    You can use the Cloudflare plugin instead and disable the extension in W3TC.

    Ok, great – thanks for the hint.

    Any problems/incompatibilities known if using both together? With enhanced page cache and so on?

    No, there are no compatibility issues. Just make sure not to use both Cloudflare Minify and W3 Total Cache minify at the same time.
