• I am looking to get pointers for setting up a host with 2 scenarios.

    • 40 small client blogs
    • 20 Large sites

I love W3 total cache and SuPHP. but I have come to find out that some of the caching mechanisms that work with W3 are not compatible with SuPHP. So I could see going without SuPHP and installing APC and memcache if I had a couple to few large sites that I was managing. Just trying to get a slice of how others have optimized Multiple Client WordPress environments. We are moving to a WordPress MU for our smaller sites. Any tips there are appreciated as well.

And I am only interested in VPS or Dedicated setups.

  • PHP-based applications benefit from opcode caching, so I don’t recommend suPHP which slows PHP. I’d use fast-cgi instead to provide some additional security.
