W3 Total Cache clean up Database

Should I mark this as resolved or not cared about?

WP will take care of it’s own garbage collection and you shouldn’t worry about this. It has nothing to do with W3TC.

Would someone please inform me why this post was marked resolved? As the OP, I have additional questions and concerns not addressed by the generic reply received by W3. Please do not mark resolved until I have done so.

OK, now on to my next question…I see documented in many places for example on Stack Exchange’s WordPress Answers, that in fact wp-cron does not clean up garbage left behind by things such as deleted plugins, widgets, themes, etc that used an action hook for transients…

As I stated above, I have deleted W3 from my sites (was not working well with some themes and plugins) and there are W3 transients left in the Database…wp-cron is not removing them as they are still there.

I have read all about how them being there is not an issue – and that being debated, but I want to review my options table and not have to look through this left over garbage…

I respect all your thoughts on this…

This is not a W3TC issue. WP itself only removes transients at the time of upgrade and perhaps some other events I’m not aware of.

I guess my thought is that a plugin should remove everything it added to the db. I will leave this open as unresolved until I hear other opinions than those of the plugin dev. Please do not mark resolved.

I am the plugin dev. W3TC doesn’t “clean” your database and that will never be it’s role.

Im having a similar problem… I uninstalled the w3tc cache from a multisite which i was having problems with and i still see on logs errors like the following:

I cleared all database cache when i disabled the plugin. How can i fix this? Shall i install the plugin again and try to clear cache some other way?

Confirm same problem more mounts ago!
