I tried restoring an old backup of the website to access specific pages that were missing. However, I got the following error:

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home/modernf1/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.

I can’t access the admin side of the website to reinstall or remove this plugin. The website is hosted on Shock Hosting, which does not have a cPanel, and I am not very familiar with FTP. I’ve tried logging in with FileZilla, but with no luck despite having all the usernames and passwords for the website and server.

How can I fix this? Please let me know if you need any further information. Thanks!

    Hello @jamisjam88

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to help.
The only way to remedy this is to check if this file actually exists and delete it so the W3TC can add it again. However, this can only be done via FTP or Cpanel, or the command line if you have the experience.
I would advise reaching out to your hosting provider and deleting the following wp-content files and folders
    – cache folder
    – w3tc-config folder
    – object-cache.php (if exists)
    – advanced-cache.php (if exists)
    – db.php (if exists)
    – upgrade folder
    – delete w3-total-cache folder in wp-content/plugins/ (if exists)

go to your wp dashboard and re-install W3 Total Cache

Let me know if this helps!

    Thanks!
