• I have had a website for almost a year now, but I have never been happy with it’s speed. I have used QuickCache and SuperCache…all the caching programs. (I had tried W3TC before and not seen much of a difference.)

I recently switched from Bluehost to MediaTemple hoping to increase my speeds. I start completely new and wiped all of my files on my site. I re-installed everything with W3TC as my cache plugin.

Is there a specific host you recommend, or can you tell me what kind of host I need to have so that I can have access to memcached or opcode? I have seen on some sites where people say that I am wasting my time with W3TC if I don’t have access to memcache or opcode. (This is my current host package https://mediatemple.net/webhosting/gs/)

    Thanks,

    Grant

  • For APC, I recommend Gandi.net shared hosting. For memcached, I recommend Zyma shared hosting. On VPS and dedicated servers, both APC and memcached can be installed. However, please note that there is no guarantee that W3 Total Cache plugin would work with these.

When memcached or APC is available with a host, I highly recommend to use Batcache, even though it doesn’t offer all the fancy things available with W3TC.
