W3TC Doesn't Purge Varnish On Theme Change

In Multisite after a subdomain site’s theme is changed, the new (selected) theme doesn’t show because Varnish doesn’t purge the cache.
(A manual purge via button in dashboard/toolbar works, but not the automatic one upon theme change in subdomain dashboard (the way it works when using plugins like “Varnish HTTP Purge”, but which also seems to conflict with WT3C because the former won’t work when WT3C is activated, but works when WT3C is deacivated.
Would you have any suggestions as to how to let W3TC include (auto) purges during theme changes / updates?
