w3tc total cache cloudfront setup not completing

I installed the w3tc plugin and configured an IAM account with full s3 and cloudfront permissions.
The plugin creates an S3 bucket and cloudfront distribution, but does not set the orgin.
What should the expected behaviour be?
Based on what I read, orgin pull seems to be the recommended way to use the w3tc plugin – is there a way to force the cloudfront distribution to be seeded with all the content?
Should I just use something like wget to crawl my site?
