• I just got started with wordpress and I’d appreciate any help. My problem is really early on in the setup…

    I’m following this video:

From 7:25, my localhost Directory in OS (C:) -> “www”
I moved the “wordpress” folder to there.

Problem occurs at 8:18, to see the wordpress folder on Chrome.
I don’t get the “Index of wordpress” screen like at 8:45 with “localhost:8888”. I get: “localhost refused to connect.”

BUT “localhost/” I see the folder under “Your Projects”
When I click on it I get the message “wordpress’s server DNS address could not be found.”

I don’t get the screen in the video at 9:13.

Is there something I’m missing/need to do?

  • I haven’t watched the video so I don’t know how accurate it is but… that video was published on May 1, 2014. WordPress and WAMP both changed a lot in the past 2 years. So the information in the video might not be accurate.

Make sure all your services are running such as your server, db, php etc. This could also be happening because something is blocking your access to localhost such as other programs or your firewall.

Also for your reference, WAMP has their own forum at https://forum.wampserver.com/list.php?1.
