WAMPSERVER; Error Establishing Database Con!

    A WEEK. How long I have spent on a localhost installation problem. My fourth install of WAMPSERVER. Each install yields same result: Error Establishing Database Connection. I’ve entered ALL data needed for username and passwords, database name as indicated- all without success. I had to disable IIS. I have phpMyAdmin working and have all entries EXACTLY as they need to be on the Testing Server (localhost) I still get the error. What’s really frustrating is that I’ve had NO problems with installation of the database on GoDaddy. That means that I have a working website but no way to test anything. I’ve spent so much time on an installation that I’ve lost my focus of intent- the pleasure of publishing.
    Each error is the same: https://localhost/wp-admin/install.php Error Establishing Database Connection! I’ve read all the install instructions in WP, WAMPSERVER till I’m blue in the face with frustration. I’ve even tried different servers to no avail. WP worked on the remote server at GD on a manual install – the first try! I have no idea what I’m doing wrong on the local install. I can’t develop without it. I’m experienced with ASP and never had the problems like these with php. Any ideas? I’ve run out of options for now and have to rate this frustration as magnitude ten. I’ll probably post the same at the WMAPSERVER support forum. Five minute install huh?

  • This isn’t a WordPress issue. It’s a problem with your local server set up.

    Steve Martain fixed my set-up pdq. Now I have more questions about configurations and I’m afraid I’ll break the localhost settings if I make any changes. I don’t know if the php code is compatible with my artistic brain. I’ve got a headache and haven’t got any work done in a week. What have I learned? ahhh I don’t lke php. I feel like I was mugged.
