Want Forum but users don't sign into website

I have a website with some protected areas and my users know those passwords. Otherwise, I do not have a login for the website.

I am trying to create a forum page, but one that would have a registration independent of the website. Make sense? Probably not my brain hurts from searching plugins.

Any suggestions on something I can use that won’t require everyone coming to the site to have a login, just those that want to be involved with the forums?

Sure, just set up a separate forum. You don’t have to use WordPress’s registration system if you don’t want to.
