want to add a slideshow/gallery to front page only

I want to add a slideshow/gallery to the front of my site that looks like the one on this site https://www.carlzochphotography.com/blog/
I tried adding a jquery type site by adding hooks to my Thesis theme but can’t get it to work. Does anyone know of a good/somewhat easy way of doing this?
