Want to display last x number of modified posts on the front-end

I apologize if this question has been answered elsewhere. I did not see it, if it has.

I know that the plugin allows for posts to be ordered by modified date, but I wonder if there is any way for posts to be queried and displayed on a section in the front end, according to the modified date. In other words, I would like to display (for example) the last 3 posts that have been modified to highlight older content/posts that have been amended with new material. And so, I do not want to reorder posts by the modified date, but only call the last x number of posts that have been modified.
