• I have tried to search on this, but have not been able to discern the right answer:
I have put my wordpress files in my root directory as I want the user to go directly to the blog when loading my domain name. I have got rid of thr index.html file so there is only the index.php file. When I enter https://www.mydomain.com/index.php the site works as it should; however, when I enter just https://www.mydomain.com I just get a listing of the files in that directory.

What I want is to be able to just enter the URL (www.mydomain.com) and have it load my blog. How do I do that? I have read about .htaccess files and note that there is no such file visible in my root directory. Is that a problem? And if so, where and how do I get such a file? And do I need to modify it in anyway?

Or maybe there is a simple answer? I thought that without index.html in the root directory the server should default to using index.php when the simple URL is entered?

    All help gratefully accepted!
