• Ok, I have seen the same question asked a couple of times but no answer. I want to change the way my links are displayed. I am running the “pool” theme. I want to change the name on the sidebar from “blogroll” to “links”. I would also like to show only the most recent links on the sidebar Maybe 3), but all of the links on the separate links page. I would also like to have links belong to multiple cattegories (science AND atoms). Any help would be appreciated… Thanks.

  • I have come up with a solution that looks like this…

    https://dataspot.biz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=13

    1. You should start here: Links_Manager
    2. Pages#Page_Templates applied to a links.php Page template.
    3. then put them in both categories.

I have found WordPress wants to randomize the blogroll
no matter what you do. Thats why I came up with my solution…
    https://dataspot.biz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=13

    tov,
that’s not true. Link_Categories_SubPanel if you set it to a different sort (NOT random) it works. Just tested ??

    Dude- whatever.
Instructions should be clear and complete.
Folks shouldn’t have to spend months to figure it out.

    Order or Sort?
    I see no sort.
Look- I’m an idiot- but i got a solution and its fully spelt out
    https://dataspot.biz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=13

I don’t know how it will work out in the long run
But i think it will work.
I’m trying to help a oft asked question
Many folks are having a prob with this!
Perhaps the documentation isn’t clear enough…
So use a forum to clarify it- don’t just point the newbies at some tech manual- thats a cop out

OK, if that works for you, I am glad.
What I don’t understand why is so difficult for everybody using a software to take a few minutes and go through the admin panel and subpanels? E.g. login > Links > Link Categories > select for Edit “Blogroll” and modify the Sort Order…

Hey- now those are good directions!
But the default as random is dumb!
Rather than call it “by name”
It should be called “alpha-numerical ordering”
But I do prefer the ups and downs arrows of a phpnuke
[ that is i think thats the one that does it ]
for ordering links- an even simpler system might be…
well i can think of a few.
The reason folks aren’t finding the way
is it is opaque- not apparent or intuitive.
Thats why i use a mac. Its easier- so i can get things done.
