Want to purchase private messages and private content – couple questions

I’m looking to purchase the private messages and private content extensions, but have a couple of questions about functionality before I buy.

Private messages extension: does this extension support notifications by email, so when you add a private message or private content for a specific customer they get an email notification that they have new content to view?

Private content extension: does the private content extension support adding documents like .doc or .pdf or other files types to a customers private area?
