Want to show welcome text.. but only on the home page

Running WordPress 1.5? Use this:

<?php if(is_home()) : ?>

Welcome text!

<?php endif; ?>

Yes i’m running 1.5, what https://www.mysite.com/ (i just use is_home?) or do i have to say is_index.php) or something.. that didn’t seem to work…. hrmm..

Just put the above code in your index.php where you want the Welcome text, and replace the “Wlcome text” with your own.

I just tried it as posted, and it worked for me. Make sure you put it in the index (Main template) in your theme folder, and not the index.php in the root.
