• The plugin works as advertised, HOWEVER unless you like spam showing up in your admin notification areas, don’t install this plugin. The annoying trend of spamming the notification area on all admin pages leads to constantly having to dismiss messages that show up on every stinking page in the admin area, for all users. In only takes a few of these spammers messages to take up 1/3 to 1/2 of your screen area and you get the “privilege” of having to dismiss every one of them on every admin page you access. Let these developers know this is NOT acceptable by your ratings or by NOT installing this plugin.

  • Hi @studiogrynn,

I’m the co-founder of FooPlugins, makers of FooGallery. I’m sorry that our admin notices are being received as spam. It’s not our intention to clutter the admin area. I do understand it’s an issue to be solved.

We’re working on a smoother process for communicating the benefits of using this, and our other plugins, in the admin area.

Unfortunately, this is a widespread issue in regard to WordPress and the plugin/theme eco-system. Until we put a better process is in place, you might consider using this plugin to selectively disable admin notices from individual plugins.

My hope is that your review will be based on the functionality our plugin provides.

    Adam,
I very much appreciate that you and your team are working towards a “smoother process”! And yes, this is wide spread, so much so that WP has released this change to the developer guidelines:
    https://github.com/WordPress/wporg-plugin-guidelines/blob/master/guideline-11.md

Unfortunately, paid and free plugins are abusing the admin areas.

While you and your team work diligently towards a better way, perhaps you could turn off the annoying sales pitches. Admin notifications, in my understanding, are intended exclusively for issue notifications.

All of the foo plugins I have tested are worthy of a great review, but if admins have to struggle to get our work done /because/ of something your plugin is doing, then a low rating is warranted. A plugin’s functionality should be /solving/ problems, not creating others. When the abuse of the admin areas stop, I will adjust my reviews accordingly.

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to the feedback. It’s a positive sign to see such a fast response from a team member and I look forward to the time I can earnestly recommend FooPlugins’ offerings free of the frustration, and on the value they bring.

That is great to know that the plugin is worthy of a great review, but is a 1 star rating a true and fair reflection?
