• I have been experiencing quite a bit of difficulty when trying to access my company’s website admin (via www.ads-software.com). For example, every time I go to login, this appears at the top of the screen:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/o109224/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bumpin-twitter/BumpIn_Twitter.php:134) in /home/o109224/public_html/wp-login.php on line 354

And then when I do enter my username and password, this appears:

I am unable to access the backend of the site, and I am unable to contact anyone as there are no numbers for WordPress support. That said, please advise on how I can fix this issue, as I haven’t been able to access my website to make changes in days…

    Thanks for your help.

    Best,

When I had this issue, it was due to a space in the very first line of the wp-config.php file. Can you access that file and check it?

Hey Kristin – thanks for the info. How exactly do I check that line? I can’t login at all – I get that page w/ warning text every time I try…

If you’re posting here, that means you have a self-hosted wordpress account. You need to find the files that you (or whoever set the site up) uploaded to your server to get the site running.

you should be able to access all the files on your server using an ftp program like filezilla, what you will do is download the wp-config.php open it with a text editor(like notepad++) and make that change and upload it back to the server. Your host should be able to tell you what your ftp settings should be.

It seems to me though that your bumpin-twitter plugin is causing the problem, you can temporarily deactivate your plugins by accessing your server via ftp find the plugins folder which is inside the wp-content and rename the plugins folder to plugins1 or whatever. Than try to access the site, if you can get in the problem is a plugin.

If that works and you can gain access to the site deactivate that twitter plugin and ftp back in to the site and name the plugins1 folder back to plugins

Hey David – I think you’re right, I think it’s the bumpin-twitter plugin. I’m not the most tech-savvy person: can you please walk me through how to access my server via ftp (my partner in Paris set up the original site; I’m the one who adds most of the info and updates it) and locate the plugins folder?

    THANK YOU!

On second thought it’s probably just better to download the plugin to your cpu and delete it from the server than try and log in again. This way it won’t affect any other running plugins

    1. download filezilla https://filezilla-project.org/download.php
    2. get the ftp settings from you host
    3. configure filezilla with the setting, usually you just need the ftp address, username, and password, your host should tell you exactly what you need
    4. locate the folder wp-content depending on your server setup this could be in the root or it could be in a seperate folder like www
    5. once you locate that wp-content folder, double click and find the folder called plugins, double click again and you’ll see all your plugin folders.
    6. look for the bumpin-twitter folder, right click, and hit download
    7. confirm download
    8. now delete that bumpin-twitter folder and try to log in

    post back with any questions

David! It worked – took me a few days to snag that information from Paris, but I just deleted that bumpin folder and everything is back and running again. THANKS SO MUCH for the information!!

Wondering, then: how should I go about adding a twitter feed to my site? As of now it’s on the homepage (https://nomadfilms.net/), but takes up a lot of room in that first column. I was trying to get it over to the right before, when this whole issue came about…

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. And either way, thanks so much for getting me back into my site!

    All the best,
    Sarah

glad it worked, that tweeter thing is easy to fix, install the plugin tweetable Im pretty sure it has a widget you can just drag and drop into the sidebar.
