• Hi

I have read a number of posts regarding this error message but my problem is still unresolved so am hoping someone can please help. I am unable to edit Themes in the Admin panel due to this error message.

Here are examples of the error messages I get:

Warning: file_exists(): open_basedir restriction in effect.
    File(G:\Websites\domain\htdocs/wp-contentG:\Websites\domain\
htdocs/wp-content/themes/arjuna-x/admin.css) is not within the allowed
    path(s): (d:\temp;g:\websites;G:\Websites;e:\php\pear) in G:\Websites\domain\htdocs\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 52

Warning: file_exists(): open_basedir restriction in effect.
    File(G:\Websites\domain\htdocs/wp-contentG:\Websites\domain\
htdocs/wp-content/themes/arjuna-x/ie6.css) is not within the allowed
    path(s): (d:\temp;g:\websites;G:\Websites;e:\php\pear) in G:\Websites\domain\htdocs\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 52

My host provider has said that WordPress is referencing an invalid path and that the path is invalid for 2 reasons:

?– It seems to have concatenated 2 links together to make one very long link that will be an invalid path
?– It uses both forward slashes and backslashes, which on a windows server will make an invalid path. Its this error that is flagging up with the basedir warning

Can anyone please advise how to solve the above 2 problems?

    Thanks in advance!

  • 1. I can’t see any concatenation of paths in those error messages.

    2. That’s a server problem in my book.

    Thanks for your reply.

    1. The concatenation is shown below where the following string appears twice: G:\Websites\domain\htdocs/wp-content

    File(G:\Websites\domain\htdocs/wp-contentG:\Websites\domain\
    htdocs/wp-content/themes/arjuna-x/admin.css)

How do I remove this repitition?

    2. Thanks I will go back to my host provider then.

    Hi again

I just spoke with my host provider and they aren’t able to help. They think the file string should only contain backslashes and no forward slashes. And given the forward slashes only occur from the point where the wordpress files are located, it indicates it is a wordpress issue.

How can I change the forward slashes to backslashes?

    Thanks
