Warning: in_array() when previewing Shoreditch

    I was trying to live preview Shoreditch and got the following error:

    Warning: in_array() expects parameter 2 to be array, null given in /www/sites/df1/48a/www.mydomain.com/web/wp-includes/class-wp-customize-manager.php on line 330

    The website currently uses the Twenty Twelve theme and is customised with a child theme.

    Does the same thing happen if you:

    1. temporarily disable all plugins
    2. activate the Twenty Seventeen theme
    3. then preview Shoreditch?

    Is WP_Debug enabled on your site?

    With the help of Vaultpress I restored a mirror copy to an alternative URL as I didn’t want to risk compromising the live site. I was able to observe the same error on the mirror site.

    I then disabled all plugins, reinstalled one by one and found the culprit. It is the Editor Menu and Widget Access plugin which restricts user roles. With that one deactivated I was successfully able to live preview and then install Shoreditch.

    Interestingly, with that plugin activated, there was no problem in live previewing Twenty Seventeen and then activating it.
