    Good Day,

Perhaps it’s only happening to us, but we noticed that if we navigate to another WP backend page while the Media Cleaner scanner is running (and say, it’s already at 70% complete), the scanner stops completely. When we restart the scanner, it doesn’t remember anything. The scanner re-starts at 0%.

Above is either a bug or something that needs to be fixed via a plugin enhancement. Meanwhile:

    1. Please add another Warning to your media scanner page advising of this condition.
    2. Update your documentation to reflect the above.

    Cheers!

    Hey @generosus! ??

I’ll pass your suggestion about the warning and documentation update. For now, please stay on the Media Cleaner page until the scan completes.

For more details, you can also visit Media Cleaner Documentation.

    Hi @valwa,

Thanks for the quick reply and for sharing this with your developers.

Respectfully, above is not a suggestion, it’s a strong recommendation. It would be great if they can update the plugin’s Warnings and documentation as soon as possible. It would be even better if they can update the plugin’s code to allow users to navigate to other WP pages while the scanner is running.

As you already know, Media Cleaner’s scanner is many times very slow thus it holds users “hostage” and cannot perform other site-development activities until it completes.

    Again, thank you.

    Hey?@generosus! ??

In most cases, you should be able to change pages while a scan is operating, but this might depend on your hosting, server capabilities, local device, and web browser settings. On a fresh test server, navigating the site while a scan is performing didn’t block the process, but it might also depend on other factors. You can also try using the CLI instead of the dashboard if this helps.

We understand your frustration if you are experiencing such an issue, and we will work to update the plugin to add these warnings. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
