Warning received when uploading theme

  • Hi Guys,
    I would really appreciate some help with this. I’m not techy so please feel free to be as elementary as you can.

    I received this warning when I tried to upload a theme to my multi-site:

    Installing Theme from uploaded file: theme.zip (changed theme name- for this post only)
    Unpacking the package…
    Installing the theme…
    Theme installed successfully.

    Warning: fopen(/home/myuser_name_here/public_html/wp-content/themes/Theme/style.css) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/myuser_name_here/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4284

    Warning: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/myuser_name_here/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4287

    Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/myuser_name_here/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4290

    (Obviously I changed my user name due to the public nature of this post.)Can someone please explain this to me and how or where I can find info to fix it?

    I’m teaching myself as I go. Been reading all I can to learn the different codes. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and help. I will pay it forward.

  • Have you re-installed WP by going to Home > Updates >> Re-install Automatically?

    What Theme are you attempting to install?

    Micah….Thanks for the suggestion. Did not think about doing that. Will give it a shot.
    Chip….I tried two different themes resulting in the same warning message. They are Ipseity Personal Branding Theme (free) and businesscardtheme (paid subscription.

    Okay I installed a new version of wordpress as suggested. Tried to upload two other themes just to test the response. This time the themes are not showing up. It says the installation of the theme was successful, however the theme does not appear in my themes section.

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the theme…

    Theme installed successfully.

    Can someone please take a stab at this that can explain what’s going on. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Could you try and install a theme from the “official themes repository?” That would just ensure that it’s not the theme that is at fault.

    Do you, by chance, have MultiSite enabled?
