    Hi, Wordfence team.

    https://ibb.co/QNttFcX

This warning now appears on several websites (especially those who have had wordfence installed for a long time), asking for “update rules manually” and even if you click and update manually, the warning does not go away

I would like to understand why. Do I have to do something? Is it a bug?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @duodigital and thanks for getting in touch.

As you’re seeing it on multiple sites, are they all hosted on the same server, or at least with the same host? I’m just asking that in case a common cause, such as server connectivity or timeouts, is responsible.

It’d be a good check to see if the timestamp on wp-content/wflogs/rules.php (when getting the message) is recent. If so, it’s a sign of overlapping hits overwriting the stored date, just after the rules have been updated.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi, Peter

That’s right. I even went to do a new check and confirmed that it was only on the sites that are on the cPanel server, a the others that I have on a DirectAdmin server, with the same theme and plugins, this message does not appear

I didn’t quite understand what you said ??

    Would you have more information?

    Thank you

    Hi @duodigital, sorry if I wasn’t clear.

You should be able to see the last time the rules.php file in your wp-content/wflogs/ folder was modified via FTP or the File Manager in your cPanel. Let us know if that’s recent when you receive the warning to update rules manually.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
