Warnings using MS Word to Post

  • I am trying to use MS Word 2010 to blog posts. It works fine, except that I receive a message when registering the blog.

    The message states: “When you send information to your blog service provider, your information may be visible to others. This includes your username and password.”

    Is there a resolution to this message?

    What exactly does it mean?

  • It means that (MS Word ???) thinks that your username and password are being sent unencrypted across the web and that anyone in between you and your host can read your username and password in plain text. This is actually true every time you log into WordPress unless you have set it up so that logins are over an ‘https’ connection. ‘Sniffing’ a connection like that is actually harder to do (but nonetheless possible for people in the right place) than it sounds unless you are logging in over an open or untrusted connection like at a coffee shop, for example.
