• Tobias – ive used your plugin over manager years, and i appreciate the free plugin, it was great. thank you. I would’ve considered buying the new update, but its minimum £100 – and thats just yearly – just too much for what it is. Theres plenty of free similar plugins now.

    Hi @rich99,

thanks for taking the time to provide feedback, I really appreciate it!

I’m a bit confused here: The free version of TablePress is of course still available, and it has the same features as before! Nothing was removed?! So, if updating to the premium versions is not something that’s in your budget at the moment, that’s totally understandable! But why does this make your experience with the free version this bad, even to the degree that you are looking for alternatives? Can you maybe clarify on that? Thanks!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

hi tobias, its because of the TablePress Extension: Responsive Tables . I used that always, but now that has become – “This TablePress Extension was retired. The plugin does no longer work with TablePress 3 and will no longer receive updates or support!
Keeping it activated can lead to errors on your website! Find out what you can do to continue using its features!

I have no option. Real pity but i needed that extension so tablepress just wont work for me now.

    Hi @rich99,

thanks for your explanation, now I see what you mean!

Please note that this TablePress Extension was never part of TablePress itself, but available as a separate add-on from the TablePress website. I invested a lot of time into these but having them as separate plugins was an additional maintenance burden. For a long time, I tried making this sustainable by suggesting donations to its users, but it didn’t work. Therefore, I did indeed decide to no longer offer these Extensions. I simply don’t have the time and resources to still maintain them for free.

Please also note that only the “Collapse” mode and the “Stack” mode no longer work. The “Scroll” and the “Flip” modes still work fine! Also, TablePress natively offers “Horizontal Scrolling”, so there are free solutions to make tables responsive, if upgrading to TablePress — which has many more great features beyond responsiveness — is not an option (despite also the upgrade offer at https://tablepress.org/upgrade-extensions/ ).

I hope this clarifies the situation around the retired Extensions a bit and maybe you can reconsider you opinion of TablePress, which I believe still is very valuable — and free!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
