I just moved my website from my localhost to the server, it’s online and working good. Except when I log in and try to upload a new image I get this error:

“watermark.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to D:\Hosting\ etc.

Making changes to pages gives me no error, just uploading images (e.g. “watermark.jpg”). What could it be?

Using Firefox, just tried uploading in Chrome, same thing.

    Thanks for helping btw!

Have you tried to upload using add new button in Media library? If not please try.

Yes, that’s how I have uploaded all images, that’s where I get the error.

What happens when you use the link to add media when you create posts? Have you tried using Internet Explorer while uploading media?

    Tried it, same error…

Is the site still in your local host? Can you upload images there? Can you try again?

Also, note that there two typical aspects: one is not being able to upload images, and the other is images not being displayed in your site (I do not find any images in your site).

Were you using any image related plugins? If so, have you tried activating them and then trying to upload?

Not on local host anymore, changed all links with WP Migrate DB.

No image related plugins, well a watermark one, but deactivated that too…

Have you contacted your hosting company about this problem? If not, please talk to them as I do not find any problem with your WordPress installation.

Yeah I called GoDaddy, the person I that helped me basically didn’t know. I am calling again, maybe I get a more experienced person.

Thanks for helping! If I get it resolved I will post.

OK, so GoDaddy actually helped to fix it. It was not a WP issue. The problem was that I manually installed WP on the server. They offer a WP integration tool that would have taken care of the issue. Other hosts may not have the problem (it may work also when manually installed).

Apparently, they needed to make some changes to the upload path, am not really sure, but it is fixed.

That figures (EDIT – meaning GoDaddy), but glad to hear it’s fixed :)!
