When you read it this – please read until the end!

Now, I have worked with FileAway a couple of months and while it’s pretty powerful in terms of functions, there are lots of downsides.

Others may not worry about these things, but for me the things described below are really a problem
    for me:

    Downside 1):
    Automatic file renaming

You can not simply upload a file and link to it – it will get renamed by the plugin (will include uploader name) which makes the frontend upload useless (because it changes the filename and breaks my original url) – I have searched a long time – no answer or solution to this.

    Downside 2):
    Thumbnail generation

When you make use of the shortcode to display thumbnails in the table listing, the created thumbnails will have utterly long names and will be listed too.

    – Your frontend FileAway folder:
    – myPic1
    – myPic2
    – myPic3
    – myPic4
    – myPic5
    – _superlongFileAway__medium_thumbnail_whatever_myPic1
    – _superlongFileAway__medium_thumbnail_whatever_myPic2
    – _superlongFileAway__medium_thumbnail_whatever_myPic3
    – _superlongFileAway__medium_thumbnail_whatever_myPic4
    – _superlongFileAway__medium_thumbnail_whatever_myPic5

    You can’t exclude these thumbnails.

    Downside 3):
awkward shortcode, just a pain to edit

Once you have entered the FileAway shortcode, you are stuck with it, meaning:
If you have accidently made a wrong setting, you either have to know all the shortcode attributes by heart, or you need to go all over the whole process of creating it again.

    Downside 4):
    loading animation is too looooong

The loading screen is just odd. OK, I had to laugh the first time, but then it just becomes a waste of time.

    Downside 5):
    auto iFrame file

Once you have installed the Plugin FileAway, it automatically creates an iFrame.php file.
I don’t want that! All attempts to remove this unwanted file from my theme directory fail.

    Downside 6):
    search is not recursive

When you use the search function, it does only search through the current folder, not the child folders of it.
    —————

It is a great plugin, but the plugin author went too geeky in some aspects.

I’ve just deleted File-away after giving it a trial and you are right.
Even after deleting the plugin, the iframe php file is still left behind in the theme files and needs to be manually deleted.
