    Hi there,

I have some issues with the German template behind the Shortcode

    [woocommerce_my_account]

There is a) a wrong translation on the checkbox for the date privacy
statement. It says “stimmte” which is past tense. Instead it should say
    “stimme”.

    b) if the user is logged in, there is “payment-methids” in the menu on
the left side. In German it is “Zahlungsmethoden”. Unfortunately, the
word is so long that it isn’t displayed in line with the card icon
    behind it, which looks bad.

As I am not a programmer: Is there a way to fix these two things?

    Thank you for your help!

    Kind regards,

    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

Translations can be handled with various methods that are described here:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-localization/

The most recent version of the German translation is available here:

    https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp-plugins/woocommerce/stable/de/default

If some changes are needed you can start following this guide:

    Hi Remi,

thanks for your help and the links! Unfortunately, I don’t have the time at the moment to read all the guidlines how to contribute to the translation in general. I thought that maybe you guys can just implement the one correction and release it with the new update.

I would also appreciate an information, how to change words via FTP or maybe even with custom CSS.

Is there a way to do this?

    Best regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

Good to hear from you again ??

    1) The existing translations are community-driven, which means the original author (or appointed editors) would have to greenlight any changes first. Practically this means that we don’t have any direct control over that.

The solution proposed by Remi is indeed the quickest in that using https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/loco-translate/ would allow you to start using “stimmte” immediately. To find out more on how to use Loco Translate, have a look at https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-localization/

    2) There might be a way to alter the display of that using some custom CSS, although we’d need to take a look at the page in question. Do you have a screenshot and a direct URL of where we can see that in action?

    Hi Riaan,

thank you for your help! The translation with Loco Translate worked very well and custom CSS is not needed anymore.
But I could not find the checkbox in the registration form “I have read and agreed to the terms of the data privacy statement.” (pretty sure my tranlsation is wrong but I hope you know what I mean ;-). It’s not in WooCommerce. Any idea where I find this checkbox?

    Best regards,
    Thomas

WooCommerce 3.3.5 doesn’t have a checkbox for the privacy policy – an option for it is coming in version 3.4. In the mean time, that means you’re using a plugin or a snippet to add that checkbox. You’ll need to translate that specific plugin using Loco Translate, the same way you translated the WooCommerce plugin strings.

    Hi Hannah,

thank you so much for the help! I found the respective plugin and edited the line.
