    Hi @sevun,

It is possible to make the order number and the invoice number the same but this will probably create gaps in your invoice numbering. By default, WooCommerce orders are numbered in the main WordPress post numbering system. This includes everything in WordPress: posts, pages, images, orders, coupons, products, etc. So if you create a new product between when two orders are placed, and upload an image for that product too, the order number is not sequential (if the first order was #100, the product would be #101, the image #102 and the next order #103). This is not ideal for invoices, most tax authorities require that invoice numbers are sequential without gaps.

If however you do want the invoice number be the same as the order number you can follow this guide: But I want the invoice to have the same number as the order!

Could you clarify. I’m sure to understand.

I’m talking about order number not product. How a product that has been created after the order, could be included in a previous order?

    Hi @sevun,

A product created after an order is not included in that previous order. WooCommerce works with the WordPress numbering system to create order numbers. This numbering system is also used when new products are added or images. Which means that if an order is created, for instance number #100, and then you create a new product this new product gets number #101 in the WordPress numbering system. If then a new order comes in it will get number #102.

So there is a gap in between those two orders. It goes from #100 to #102 because number #101 is appointed to the newly created product. Now for orders that is fine. But invoice numbers in most countries should be sequential, without gaps.

If you make the invoice number equal to the order number it is very likely that sooner or later you will get a gap in your numbering.
