    I get the error message “We cannot display this gallery” after upgrading to the lastest version of NextGen Gallery.

    Here are the steps to replicate the problem:

    1. Current NextGen Gallery Version: 1.9.13
    2. Upgrade to: 2.1.49
    3. After upgrade, page (not post) says “We cannot display this gallery”
    4. Posts use short codes such as:
    [nggallery id=13]
    [nggallery id=14]
    [nggallery id=1 template=caption]
    5. Unzipping and overwrite the “nextgen-gallery” folder with 1.9.13 and all works fine.

    Things I’ve tried in this exact order:

    1. Update to 2.1.49
    2. Turn all plugins off
    3. Switch theme to a WP Default theme
    4. Turn only NextGen on
    5. Clean browser cache
    6. Visit page with shortcodes. Same “We cannot display…” message.
    7. Revert back to 1.9.13, refresh the browser on public page, gallery as normal.

    Also, when I visit Gallery > Gallery Settings > and make changes or make no changes, and click [Save], I get this message:
    Fatal error: Call to a member function save() on a non-object in /home/******/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/nextgen_gallery_display/package.module.nextgen_gallery_display.php on line 2174

    Visitng Other Options > and clicking save is error free.

    I have reverted back to 1.9.13 for now.

    @forexdude – Updating from NextGEN Legacy versions to current NextGEN Gallery version sometimes requires a reset of the plugin.

    Please try our external Reset Tool plugin here: https://bitbucket.org/photocrati/nextgen-gallery-reset/get/default.zip

    To install and activate, go to Plugins > Add New … Upload Plugin
    To use, go to Tools > NextGEN Gallery Reset

    We do not offer specific support for the Reset Tool plugin as is but it can help in many circumstances, please let us know if it does.

    The Reset Tool is essentially an external version of the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options. After a reset you may also need to clear the image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous as well.

    I can confirm that the reset tool worked and after years, we’re finally up to the newest version! I also performed the additional step of clearing the image cache as instructed just for good measure. The whole site works great. Thanks so much! ??
