• Help! We used to be able to allow comments on any page of our site. Now, despite having selected “allow comments” and despite having added <?php comments_template(); ?> to BOTH page templates, the comment box will NOT display.

It USED to work just fine. We are using the Twenty Ten Theme. Here is the site https://www.ncmassageconnection.org

We’re really only wanting to offer the comment feature on the member’s blog page, but it won’t display there, and it won’t display on any other page either — but it used to!

Help! We almost have no hair left to pull out.

Hmmm, so that duplicate line would need to be removed from the page template right? But if the extra line of code is in the page template, then the above markup error should appear on every page of the site….I’m not quite sure what to do with this info but thank you!

Here it is on classified, https://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3a%2f%2fncmassageconnection.org%2fclassified%2f and before it was on comunity outreach – that’s 2 out of 2 I checked.

I had the validator display the markup and it shows on line 142:

    <p class=”nocomments”>Comments are closed.</p>

I checked the page and I checked the page templates, but I cannot see where or how to edit this. I think this line is on all our pages — but why? and how? did it get there?

    Thanks again.

invisible on the screen, but in the html code in the browser, it says: <p class="nocomments">Comments are closed.</p> in the page (at least in ‘Continuing Education Classes’)

i.e. the comments are still closed for pages.

have you ticked the appropriate boxes in the ‘discussion’ field below the page editor in the ‘edit page’ page?

if this field does not show, you need to click the ‘screen options’ tab near the top right of that page, and tick the boxes to show this ‘discussion’ field; then go back down below the page editor and tick the comments boxes there.

    I’m checking that right now….

you can do this as well, if you go to ‘pages’ and the click the ‘quick edit’ below each page name in the list – there should be an ‘allow comments’ tick box as well.

might be a bit faster …

Yes, I have ticked off “allow discussion” on the member’s blog page — the only page we actually want to allow discussion.

But now, I just ticked off “allow discussion” on the Community OUtreach page — clicked “update” — and refreshed the browser — and it still does NOT show the comment field on the page. And if you view the HTML source, it still has <p class=”nocomments”>Comments are closed.</p>

    Strange?

I am having same problem, I am using Twenty ten theme and on my posts page, I dont even get the options for “Allow Comments” that I an check. I checked the appropriate boxes under Settings – > Discussions also, but still the comments section doesnt show on my posts. Please help. I want users to be able to leave comments on each of my posts : https://ecojuicer.com/blog/
