    hello
i have varnish 4 installed and working
but in varnish status i got the following

We did not find Varnish active for this domain.
Because CloudFlare is running, you may experience some cache oddities. Make sure you configure WordPress for Cloudflare?
Your site is compressing content and making the internet faster.
Something is setting the header Cache-Control to “no-cache” which means visitors will never get cached pages.
Something is setting the header Cache-Control to “max-age=0” which means a page can be no older than 0 seconds before it needs to regenerate the cache.
Mod Pagespeed is active but it looks like your caching headers may not be right. This may be a false negative if other parts of your site are overwriting headers. Fix all other errors listed, then come back to this. If you are still having errors, you will need to look into using htaccess or nginx to override the Pagespeed headers.

    so whats wrong?
    Regards

  • I have a similar issue, Varnish is working and Varnish http purge plugin seems to detect it at some extent.

We did not find Varnish active for this domain.

Your sever IP setup looks just fine. If you are using a proxy (like Sucuri or Cloudflare or Fastly) please double check that configuration and make sure to add a custom Varnish IP .

Your site is compressing content and making the internet faster.

However I noticed that since version 4 of the Varnish http purge plugin, when I hit purging the varnish cache I had to manually purge the cache from command line or even worse, had to restart Varnish.

    I also have this issue:

“We did not find Varnish active for this domain.”

    How can I fix this?

Varnish 4 isn’t supported by the plugin, so if it works, great, but you’re on your own here, folks.

Apparently your plugin works with Varnish 4, at least I haven′t found anything odd.

I have performed a quick search on the description of the plugin and I don′t find any reference of not supporting Varnish 4. From the top of my head, Varnish 4 was released in 2014-2015, when do you expect to fully support version 4?

I have seen there are new updates recently. Has the plugin been tested with Varnish 4?

    Again, no.

I’d update the documentation if so. Sorry but we just aren’t running it (yet) at DreamHost, which is where I work and use Varnish.

But you’re using the Varnish STATUS check part of the plugin here, which has nothing to do with anything except an attempt to make it (hopefully) easier for people to debug if Varnish is working properly.

We did not find Varnish active for this domain.

That literally means the plugin doesn’t see the right varnish headers on your website. X-Varnish is the header. If you’re not outputting that, that’s why it can’t tell.

Sorry, My concern is not this status thing anymore. I have asked in the correct question, about clear cache button which is trying to purge and doesn′t work in Varnish 4, while banning might be the way to go and might work in all versions of Varnish
