We don't need no stinkin' emojis!

I was waiting to upgrade to 4.2 until I had time to get a firm understanding of the new emoji feature. Decided that emojis are not something I nor my clients would make use of on our sites. From what I can tell, support for this feature loads a script on every page; in my case, this is an unnecessary script. Now I can’t find any definitive word on whether this adds perceptibly to site load time, but I’m playing it safe and streamlining.

First considered adding a couple of lines to my functions.php but decided to use this plugin instead. It does the job seemingly efficiently, and I’ve been impressed by the plugin author’s responsiveness.

I’m disappointed that I need a plugin to address this when it seems like it should be an optional feature (considering it add a script for which some of us have zero use)! But I’m grateful that this plugin is available. Thanks!
