    Hello,

I’ve been using your widget for several months now and it’s been great.

Nothing has changed on our site, no major updates other than plugins, and all of a sudden the widget just stops showing up.

It literally has a blank spot where it used to be, but smaller. So the widgets below has shifted up some. But there’s still a white blank where it used to be.

Something weird is happening. Whenever I put in the city McKinney, TX and view it, over 1/2 of the widget disappears and the other 1/2 is white. No text, nothing. Like it shorted out or something.

If it change it back to whatever city, and I’ve tried about 30 random ones, it works. Just McKinney, TX.

    Weird.

    Still having issues with this?

I am having issues. It worked for about a day and a half and then it just disappeared on me. ??

@printergirl Try to clear your the weather cache. There are steps at the bottom of this page:

Did it earlier. Worked for about an hour and now it’s gone again. ?? Obviously I can’t expect my visitors to do this. Any clues on how to fix it. I really like the looks of your widget and was considering a paid version, but it if isn’t going to work…..

@printergirl The PRO version has the ability to use Yahoo! Weather which is much more reliable. What city are you using?

I am having the same problem. Sometimes the widget is there and sometimes it isn’t.

I looked in the source code, and it says Error: Not Found City.
I had just entered the city name, but maybe having the province/state and country is needed as well.

Sometimes it works better with the City ID. I wrote how to find it here:
    https://halgatewood.com/docs/plugins/awesome-weather-widget/finding-city-id

    Hello !
I’m experiencing the disappearance issue like others … I tried to find the city ID to try your solution, but even if open weather map find the city I want, the url ID is a simple 0, which obviously is not a valid ID. Maybe the problem comes from here ? Do the Pro version with Yahoo maps work better ? Thanks !

I’m having the same issue. Only way to get it working again is to add a second weather widget and delete the original.

@t-style : I don’t want to spoil your mood, but I dit it too and the bug continued.
BUT : Openweathermap answered me minutes ago to give me a valid url … maybe it will work better with this … (PS Hal Gatewood, I’m still interested to know if your pro version still encounters the disappearance bug. If there is a non-bugged version, I would definitely prefer to use it !)

I have found in my testing that the Yahoo weather service is much more reliable.

Have you looked in the source of your page when the widget disappears to get the exact error message? If it’s a ‘City Not Found’ issue then I would image you would have better success with the PRO version. If it’s a different error, then we would need to look at that.

Make sure to check if Yahoo has your city available here: https://woeid.rosselliot.co.nz/

@hal this is the error I’m seeing in source code
<!– AWESOME WEATHER ERROR: Operation timed out after 5011 milliseconds with 0 bytes received –>

Clearing weather cache didn’t work. Went to find the city ID via open weather map as you instructed. Entered a few different locations across US and nothing happens. Any other suggestions to get back the awesome weather widget, that used to live up to its name? The disappearance is disappointing. ??

Can the code be changed to work with a different weather source? Not a big fan of Yahoo.

Thanks in advance for your reply, Hal.

I am seeing the same issue also. Clearing the cache didn’t change anything and nor did using the City ID instead of the name. When trying to get the city ID the openweathermap.org site didn’t seem to respond at all to my searches. Tried 4-5 times before getting any search results to return.

Error message from my “view page source” operation is:
<!– AWESOME WEATHER ERROR: connect() timed out! –>

Seems to indicate the openweathermap.org site/solution is having some issues. ?? so a more reliable source for the weather might be the wy to go/needed.
