I have a web with around 100.000 visitors and 3/4 million page views monthly. it has been infected and I had hired a coder to solve the issue and wordfence has been added as permanent plugin. the web should be clean now but it runs really slow. I had increased the memory in our host from 6GB to 8GB and still it does not runs smoothly. could the wordfence’s plugin be the cause of this delay?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hello @anafasia and thanks for reaching out to us!

Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    Thanks!

I can’t seem to locate the diagnostic in our inbox.

If you navigate to Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostic > Export, it will export the diagnostic into a txt file. If you could attach that txt file in an email to wftest @ wordfence . com with subject “@anafasia Diagnostic”, I should be able to locate it.

    Thanks again!

    Thanks! I got that one!

The first thing I notice is the WP and PHP versions you are running are older. This doesn’t mean that is what is causing the issue but I definitely recommend upgrading at some point, especially the PHP version. We strongly recommend PHP version 7.3 or 7.4.

It looks like the Wordfence tables are a little large currently which could be causing the issue with load speed.

A complete re-install of Wordfence might be a good step. It’s always best to make a backup of the site and database before installing/removing plugins, just to be safe.

Additionally, you can backup your Wordfence settings via the Export option. Navigate to Wordfence > Tools > Import/Export Options and click Export. You can also take note of the current Whitelisted URLs you have in Wordfence > Firewall > All Firewall Options > Whitelisted URLs as these are NOT included in the Import/Export, and will be lost during the re-install.
Here is what is exported: https://www.wordfence.com/help/tools/import-export/
During the export, you will be given a long string of text. Keep this safe, you’ll need it in a few minutes.

After that, enable the option to Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation in All Options > General Wordfence Options. You will want to remember to disable this after you reinstall Wordfence again.

After you enable that option, you can deactivate Wordfence from the Plugins area of your site, then delete it. Next, from the plugins area, search for and re-install Wordfence like normal.

It will be like setting Wordfence up for the first time. You will need to enter an email address, and then go into Tools > Import/Export Options and paste that string of text into the Import Wordfence Options field and click the button there.

The firewall will be in Learning Mode by default for 7 days. I would recommend switching this to Enabled and Protected as soon as possible.

Let me know if this helps!

    Thanks!

thanks, I will forward it to the one who installed it.

is it necessary to have the plugin Visitor Locations installed to make wordfence work properly?

I had also after the cleaning a message at Google Search Console notifying that there is still injected content on the web.

Wordfence doesn’t require any other plugins to run properly. Wordfence actually already has a built-in Live Traffic so you technically don’t need that plugin unless you prefer it.

As for Google Search Console, you have to make sure your site is clean and clear of malware before the crawlers make their rounds back to your site. I have seen this sometimes take 4-6 weeks.

    Thanks again!

thanks a lot. I will wait. there was a warning that dissapeared but another one is still active.

I should need to rebuild the web structure for upper versions. is it a way of using your plugin with PHP 7.0?
