My web stories were getting indexed without any problems to start with but for the last week when adding it in the url inspection tool on google search console I’m getting this error message even a week later (it is passing the AMP inspection):

To compare, the web stories that got indexed before the issue show this in case someone can spot the issue from seeing the 2.

The only 2 things I can see is the difference in referring page and whether it allows indexing. I changed these things this week which I wonder if they caused the problem : I upgraded my Cloudflare account and added a menu to my main navigation with the url /web-stories. I’m wondering if this URL is creating a conflict since the web stories that was able to be indexed says no referring page but the one that can’t be shows the referring page as web-stories. I’ve deleted the menu item by clicking ‘remove’ but that’s just removed the menu item and hasn’t deleted the URL.

Thanks so very much for any help you can provide.

Hello and thanks for getting in touch. Looking at your current setup and sitemap I can see the page you are referring to on there.

Please note that indexing can take up to a week or two; you can check the progress using the URL Inspection tool in Search Console. There you can also troubleshoot why a page hasn’t been indexed. Learn more at https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9012289?hl=en.

It doesn’t look like this page is showing in search yet but I would give this a little more time first as it can take some time to show.

If however after more time it has still yet to show then I would recommend reaching out to the Search Console team who will be able to assist your further with this.

If you have any further queries for the Web Stories plugin then do let me know or feel free to open a new topic if you do in future and we will be happy to assist.

    Hi Adam,

Thanks so much for getting back to me. What’s strange is before November 1st I’d ask them to be indexed and they’d get indexed overnight. Then from November they’re not getting indexed (it’s been 2 weeks since I submitted the 1st one Im having issues with in Google Search Console). The 5 urls all say but discovered not indexed.

Yoast said something about “Google wanted to crawl the URL but this was expected to overload the site” in reference to just these 5 web stories links, not sure what that means.

I’ll reach out to the Search Console team and update this ticket with any feedback in case anyone else is experiencing the same issue.

Hi Adam, Thank you. I haven’t as I can’t find a way to contact them. All I can find is this https://support.google.com/webmasters/contact/indexing_issue_form

Do you know how to reach out to them? Thank you
