Hi, I need some help. I installed the web stories plugin and it does not appear in the wordpress menu. Also, when I try to access the plugin settings my access but is not allowed(even with admin user) . I’ve already uninstalled all the plugins to check for any conflicts and I’ve also changed the wordpress themes. Could you point me to a solution for this?

Wordpress support initially pointed me to this problem:
Web stories plugin is throwing PHP error: 11-Oct-2022 17:33:30 UTC] PHP Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/srv/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/web-stories/includes/functions.php’ (include_path=’/srv/htdocs/wp-content/themes/page-builder-framework/assets/kirki/:/srv/htdocs/wp-content/themes/page-builder-framework/assets/kirki/core:/:.’) in /srv/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/web-stories/includes/namespace.php on line 153

@offweb Hello there. Sorry to hear you are encountering issues with the plugin.

    1) If possible, could you share a screenshot or screen recording of the issue? You can use services like JumpShare or Recordit to share.

    2) Could you provide your Site Health information? You can share privately if you prefer.

@offweb Thank you. The plugin settings is limited to certain user roles. Could you please confirm your WordPress user role?

Also, if you could actually submit the site health information using this form that would be great!

@offweb Can you please install the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode? This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely because it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.

    – Please enable the Web Stories plugin and let me know if the issue is present.
    – Enabling plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
    – Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.

    Hi Luckyna,
I installed the health check plugin and I changed the theme and left only webstories enabled but the problem remains.
I made a video to show you if I did it correctly.

@offweb Thank you for sharing the details. I noticed that you are using some user role plugins. It’s worth noting that in WordPress changes to roles persist even when disabling plugins. So to rule out an issue with permissions, you’d have to temporarily disable all other plugins and then use a plugin like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/reset-roles-and-capabilities/ to reset all roles on your site to “factory settings”. Make sure to clear any cache and test in a Chrome incognito browser as well. Please let me know how you get on with this and we can go from there.

    Hello Luckyna
I disabled all plugins, cleared the cache and changed the wordpress theme and enabled the Roles and capabilities plugin, but still the web stories plugin didn’t work. The same behavior continues. Is there any other procedure we can try? Thank you for your support

    @offweb Thank you.

I noticed that you have the WP Clean Admin Menu plugin activated, which has the ability to hide selected menu items from the WP Admin Menu. Can you please double-check that Web Stories is not checked off in the settings?

One more thing we can rule out is whether something went wrong during a plugin update. Have you tried to uninstall/delete the Web Stories plugin before installing it once more?

    Hello again!
Luckyna I uninstalled the WP Clean Admin plugin and also uninstalled the web stories plugin. After that I ran the Roles and capabilities plugin again with all plugins disabled. But the error remains.

@offweb Can you test if the same issue occurs on a fresh WordPress installation with only Web Stories plugin enabled?

Hello luckyna. I installed the plugin on another site and it worked normally, but on this site trademap.com.br the plugin has this error. Do you have any guesses or suggestions for the possible problem?

Hello again Lucky. I found the solution.
    1. Go to https://example.com/wp-admin/options.php in your browser, with your site’s URL instead of example.com, of course. On this “All Settings” screen, you should see a list of internal WordPress configuration data, the so-called “WordPress Options”, with input fields to change their values. Be advised that this is a powerful tool, so please proceed with caution.
    2. Scroll down to web_stories_previous_db_version. And Change that number to 0 (zero), but please be very careful to not remove the surrounding quotation marks or other characters! (In my case was 3.0.13)
    3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Save Changes” button.

(Note that the number after “plugin_options_db_version”: that you changed to 0 will have changed to its original value again, which is the correct and expected behavior.)

    The plugin back to work.
I found the solution following this:
