I am trying to configure Ad Manager to work with Web Stories.

After setting the ‘Monetization’ to Google Ad Manager the correct /########/WS is pulled into the fields. I double checked and the #’s do reflect our Google Ad Manager account.

When I follow the instructions for, ‘Learn how to enable programmatic demand in Web Stories through Ad Manager,’ I get stuck.

I do not have the option for creating an ‘Ad Exchange line item’

When creating a line item, my only options under ‘Line item type’ are:

    Sponsorship(4)
    Standard (6,8,10)
    Network(12)
    Bulk(12)
    Price priority (12)
    House(16)
    Click-tracking only.

There is no option for Ad Manager.

Can you help me understand how to properly create a line item and placeholder in Ad Manager so that I can have Ad Manager deliver ads in our Web Stories?

Ideally, I would like to have Ad Manager filled the Web Story with either an Adsense Ad or an Ad the we sold and use Ad Manager to deliver.

    Thank you

    Terry

  • Hi @terrymiddleton thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you’re having issues setting up a Ad Exchange line item. The Web Stories plugin simply allows you to add your Ad Manager slot ID once you have set everything up correctly on the Ad Manager side.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide support for the Ad Manager platform itself as we are limited to support for the Stories plugin. If you are having issues with you Ad Manager setup then I would suggest reaching out to the Ad Manager Help Center for more assistance with this.

If you do have any further questions on the Web Stories plugin then I’d be happy to answer those for you. Good luck with your Ad Manager setup.

@adamdunnage thank you for your reply.

Can you answer me one question about the plugin that may clear everything up.

When I select Ad Manager as the Monetization method, the plugin sets the field to /########/WS where ######## = my Ad Manager Account #.

Does the WS at the end need to refer to the ‘Code’ field in Ad Manager that is specified in the Inventory Ad Unit Settings?

The plugin documentation is either absent or confusing on this.

In the example below the field it shows:

    Example: /123456789/a4a/amp_story_dfp_example

However, in the field that the plugin fills, the field simply has /WS

How does that field in the plugin correlate to the Ad Manager Inventory Ad Unit?

In the plugin example what/where does the /a4a/ reference and what/where does the /amp_story_dfp_example point to in Ad Manager?

I think that if I can solve this, I’m golden.

    Thanks,

    Terry

@terrymiddleton The guide highlighted in the settings shows how to get the ad unit code. The highlighted part in the generated code is what you need.

The exact format of the ad unit depends on how you set things up in Ad Manager. So it’s entirely possible that you don’t have this /a4a/ part. That’s not an issue.

So if you set something up with the name WS then yes the ad unit might be /########/WS. Whatever was generated, then you will need to use that.

For any further information I would advise getting in touch with the Ad Manger Help Center as they are better placed to help with this.
