    I’m not a coder.

I’ve been using the ActivityPub plugin for a while now. Today I noticed that the Site Health plugin was reporting a critical error from ActivityPub, “Webfinger endpoint is not accessible.”

When I hit https://dougnix.net/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:[email protected], I get the following back:

    {“subject”:”acct:[email protected]”,”aliases”:[“acct:[email protected]”,”https:\/\/dougnix.net\/author\/aniantyp\/”,”https:\/\/dougnix.net\/author\/aniantyp\/”,”https:\/\/dougnix.net\/@aNIANTyP”],”links”:[{“rel”:”http:\/\/webfinger.net\/rel\/profile-page”,”href”:”https:\/\/dougnix.net\/author\/aniantyp\/”,”type”:”text\/html”},{“rel”:”http:\/\/webfinger.net\/rel\/avatar”,”href”:”https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/662c649e75a48c0aafbcd7ead3f51932?s=96&d=mm&r=pg”},{“rel”:”http:\/\/webfinger.net\/rel\/profile-page”,”href”:”http:\/\/dougnix.net”,”type”:”text\/html”},{“rel”:”self”,”type”:”application\/activity+json”,”href”:”https:\/\/dougnix.net\/author\/aniantyp\/”},{“rel”:”http:\/\/nodeinfo.diaspora.software\/ns\/schema\/2.1″,”href”:”https:\/\/dougnix.net\/wp-json\/nodeinfo\/2.1″},{“rel”:”http:\/\/nodeinfo.diaspora.software\/ns\/schema\/2.0″,”href”:”https:\/\/dougnix.net\/wp-json\/nodeinfo\/2.0″},{“rel”:”http:\/\/nodeinfo.diaspora.software\/ns\/schema\/1.1″,”href”:”https:\/\/dougnix.net\/wp-json\/nodeinfo\/1.1″},{“rel”:”http:\/\/nodeinfo.diaspora.software\/ns\/schema\/1.0″,”href”:”https:\/\/dougnix.net\/wp-json\/nodeinfo\/1.0″}]}

I’m assuming that the fact that I got a response back from the webfinger query means that the endpoint is actually accessible, so I don’t know what the problem might be. Hopefully you can suggest some things I could try.

This seems to be a glitch by the site-health feature, I will check why this is a problem of v2.0.0. Please ignore it for now!

    Thanks, Matthias!

In the meantime, I also installed your Webfinger plugin, but that did not affect the results in the Site Health dashboard.

I will ignore the warning and wait for your advice on this thread. ??

    Hi Matthias,

That’s great! I’m glad I could help find a ??. I look forward to the next update ??.

I have the same problem. In addition, the posting of articles no longer seems to work for my site (https://ebildungslabor.de). 9 hours ago everything was working fine. Now the message about the critical error appears and the last post (https://ebildungslabor.de/now/alles-nur-ein-bisschen-angefangen-und-viel-zeit-verplempert/) does not appear in the Fediverse.

Thanks a lot for the update. It is working for me and there are no more error messages ??

Thanks Matthias for the attention to this issue. I’m having a similar problem with 2.0.1. I get the site health warning and the posts are not making it through to the Mastodon feed.

    ^That seems to work ok.

    But this post: https://www.adudeistblog.com/2024/01/27/fuckin-a-man/

Isn’t in the feed: https://mastodon.social/@[email protected]

The WebFinger check seems to be a glitch… I hope the error will disappear automatically, because (as you already mentioned) it works like expected… (let me know if not)…

Because of the post: I can see your latest post on mastodon.social… ??

Do you use a systems cron to trigger WP_Cron? Can you maybe check the cron queue if there is maybe an event blocking other events?

    (@swade2569)

Thank you! You know I think there’s something up with Cron because my sites get these site warnings all the time and each of them trace back to cron.

Yep, I confirmed the plugin and everything is producing the expected results, and I also confirmed I seem impatient. ??

    Thanks again
