• I’m pretty set on upgrading to the premium version, esp for the extra sliders, but I’m trying to test extensively in the free version first. My main issues so far are with webfonts.

Google webfonts seem to be working on MOST of the desktop version of my page, but not at all on the mobile version. Specifically, I have web fonts (Cedarville cursive) set for the main navigation menu and the site tagline. That font is also, for some reason, affecting my secondary navigation as well, even though its not set to that font.

I also want to use the same web font on the mobile menu as the main menu. I’ve tried everything, and the setting is set to use the font I want (again, Cedarville Cursive) but on all mobile devices I try, its defaulting to a standard font. Any idea why this is happening?

  • Can you post a link? Your not using a mobile theme from jetpack right?

    not using jetpack!

    Hey,
I think I’ve seen this site before, think I told you then, your server is blocking google fonts. That is your issue. It comes up with a 403 error. Have you tried contacting your hosting provider?

I contacted my hosting provider (GoDaddy) and here is their response:

Looking at the hosting, we do not block fonts, however our hosting only support UTFC-8 characters. As long as the font set it that type it shouldn’t have an issue

Can you add any insight to this? I’m not sure if the web font fits that profile.

ALSO, to add to this, it seems like the fonts are working fine when I look at my site on a desktop/laptop browser (with the exception that the secondary menu font selection is not working properly and is using the same web font as the primary menu) – the fonts arent working at all on the mobile version of the site. So it seems like the issue is with theme and mobile configuration, yes?

Hey jgreen624, could it possibly be a plugin that is blocking your fonts? Have you tried deactivating them?

Hi Hannah, I did try and inactivate all the plugins I have except WooCommerce and the Virtue Toolkit. I’m afraid to try and deactivate them and surely its not one of those two plugins causing the problem?

Hmm..I’ll continue to look into it and let you know if I come up with a solution. Ben (the developer) is backpacking for a couple days. If I can’t come up with an answer I’m sure he’ll be able to help when he gets back.
    Thanks for your patience!!

    Hey,
So here is why I must insist it’s not a theme issue, check the demo, and check on mobile.

My point is when I click on the link to your site and read the console error log the google fonts show a 403 error (server error “forbidden”). That isn’t anything the theme could even control if it wanted to. So you can try loading the google fonts with a plugin. or try installing the redux framework plugin as another workaround else you need to check in your servers mod security setting and htaccess file.

I totally understand, I’m not accusing the theme vs the server. I dont know much about it anyway to be able to talk about it, and I know GoDaddy has some pretty lackluster service at times. I just wanted to see what I can do.

Is there anything you can do to diagnose why on desktop version the secondary menu is using the main menu google font rather than what I have it set as? Supposed to be Garamond, but on desktop, its matching the main menu google font.

I think I found a solution, If you are using “Garamond” make sure to re select it. If your text box only says “Garamond” then it’s wrong it should say “Garamond, serif”. Go through your fonts and make sure you select each font over.
If this doesn’t work, send me an email: [email protected]
