• My site is offline, including the admin panel. The web designer company I’ve used for a couple of years also has their own site offline and are not responding on any channels.

I suspect bankruptcy and a total lack of support and communication about the event. Is there any way for me to recover (parts of?) my WordPress site?

Sure, do you have a off-site backup? If so, you can import your database and re-upload your WordPress files, including themes, plugins… to a more reliable web hosting provider. Depending on your domain settings, you also need to move your domain name to a new host. (Auth Code required).

Keep trying to get in touch with your previous host.

    Relevant issues are:
    – Do you own and control your domain name ? OR did the web developer company do this for you ? Is it registered in your name or theirs ?
    – Do you have a relationship with the web hosting company ? OR did the web developer company do this for you ?

Research the web design company. You may be able to develop a relationship with the liquidator.

Your archived website may be available on the wayback machine, available here:

If so a developer could with some effort reformulate your website.

Unfortunately it is very common for people to not recognise and manage their web assets as real property, and in situations like yours loose access to them.
