  • I have tried them out but I always go back to blogging online. So much easier. (Somehow!)

Yeah I was thinking so too. I was also looking at posting via email, but unless I’m sending it from say, my phone – I’m not sure how beneficial that will be at the moment to me either.

    Thanks.

If you’re a firefox user, check out the Performancing extension at https://performancing.com/firefox

Basically, it gives you an authoring spot in the bottom part of your browser screen. Really slick if you’re article is referring to a bunch of sites that you have opened in various tabs. Or if you’re doing research while writing the article and have a bunch of tabs open. You can look at the tabbed pages and still have your post right in front of you.

Ecto is cool – I just went through several days of trying them all.

A word about performancing – it does not close it’s divs.
So if you align center, WP ends up dropping a closing div at the end of the post. Also if you go to edit a post made through perfomancing you will see tags. Lots of tags. Write a long test post then check then validate.
Okay if you don’t mind …..

For quick posts, the online editor works really well. If you post long entries composed over a few days, then offline editor works well. An offline editor is also useful if you want to manage posts from multiple blogs; use as a offline backup tool; and if you spend a lot of time writing/tweaking in xhtml (as oppposed to strictly wysiwyg) i.e. a better xhtml editor. Our app, Zoundry (v.1.0)provides most of the features used for offline editing including a validating xhtml source editor

Weblog pinging, tagging (except for inline tagging) supported by offline editors may not be very useful with WordPress since WordPress supports this (afaik) natively.

Hey Podz, thanks for the heads up. Hadn’t noticed the missing div issue (yet) but I’ll definitely be watching things a bit closer now.

I don’t do any formatting in performancing — I just write ’em up and send ’em to the blog in draft mode where I add any graphics and formatting I might want in THAT editor.

But darn, now I better go back and look at some of those posts I reckon.
