Webmaster site verification problem

  • Ok,
    1. I think I put the Google meta tag in the right place of the header tag.
    2. I even downloaded the validation plugin and entered the numbers.

    Yet, Google Webmaster Tool still can’t find the meta tag and won’t verify. Yahoo and Bing seem fine.

    Help?

  • I may be wrong here, but when I did this for my site I do believe that the google META tag had to be either straight after the <head> tag or right before the </head> (or possibly right after the </head>).

    Please check that you have put it in the correct place on your index page.

    Also, I would give up to 48 hours for google to update everything. It may be an internal problem.
