    Hi,
I am optimising a website which uses Smart Slider, but am having issues with the Slider Banner images.
I have optimised the images successfully using Imagify and converted to WEBP format. However, the images are not being presented in the slider as WEBP, which is killing my Page Speed.
How do I get Smart Slider to use the WEBP images I optimised with Imagify?

    Thanks

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @troyw2015

I’m sorry but it’s not possible to make 3rd parties replace the images in the slider. In fact we generally make sure no 3rd parties can modify the images, because that tends to cause problems. For example, it’s a common problem that the 3rd party don’t just replace the image URl, but modifies the entire img tag, which results broken or missing images.

So the only safe way to use WebP images in Smart Slider is to use our own option. Unfortunately, in the Free version we don’t have option to convert the slider images into WebP, as that’s a Pro only feature:

Alternatively, you could add the WebP images directly into the slider (so you’d select image.webp instead of image.jpg) even in the free version. Just this way there won’t be a fallback for devices which don’t support WebP images. This includes all Safari devices before Safari 14: https://caniuse.com/webp
