    Indeed, to use WebP images in Smush, it will need a Pro version.

    You can find the reference to this in the www.ads-software.com-Smush plugin’s FAQs section under the question –

    “My Google PageSpeed test is telling me to serve images in Next-Gen formats. Can Smush do that?”
